Every year, hundreds of professional cyclists push their physical and mental limits, racing thousands of kilometers through intense heat, steep climbs, and fierce competition. For these athletes, recovery isn't just rest; it's essential preparation for the next race.
Established in 2022, the Tudor Pro Cycling Team quickly rose through the ranks, regularly placing at the top in elite competitions and earning spots in prestigious events like the Tour de France. For the Tudor pro cycling team’s cyclists, the time spent off the bike, resting and regrouping, is just as crucial as their performance during the race.
In 2024, Tudor Pro Cycling’s Communications Manager, Mathieu Forlot, envisioned a unique experience: What if VIP guests could see inside the private team bus, the heart of the team's recovery and preparation?
Typically reserved exclusively for athletes, the Tudor Pro Cycling Team bus is where riders hydrate, strategize, and recuperate in privacy. Mathieu saw an opportunity to share this unseen side of cycling with VIPs.
Collaborating with Christophe Hitie from DUO PROD and powered by Teleport, the team captured detailed footage of the Tudor Pro Cycling team bus in just a few hours while it was stationed outside Paris. Christophe meticulously recorded every element: from personalized rider spaces to sponsor placements, creating an authentic snapshot of race-day preparation.
The captured video was uploaded to Teleport, where it was automatically processed into a realistic, immersive 3D model. The platform handled the reconstruction seamlessly, requiring no manual configuration and minimal turnaround time.
At the prestigious Amstel Gold Race in the Netherlands on April 20th, Tudor Pro Cycling presented the virtual bus experience. VIP guests explored the team's private space using a Varjo XR-4 headset and laptop setup. The immersive detail - from creases in leather seats to clearly visible sponsor logos on water bottles - offered guests a rare, authentic glimpse into the athletes' environment.
Using Teleport’s Portals & Virtual Tours features, Mathieu effortlessly linked different sections of the bus and provided guided commentary, detailing the team's pre- and post-race routines in an intuitive, virtual walkthrough.
